Build  model of DNA molecule that is 12 Base Pairs long using beads, paperclips and pipe cleaners.
Draw a picture of your DNA molecule in your notebook, or take a pic that you can print and glue in notebook. Now simulate replication. Draw a picture or take a picture of this process too.

A = Green
T = Red
G = Yellow
C = Blue
Blue Bead = Deoxyribose (sugar)

Read page 406 - 407, The Code in DNA. From the reading: 1) what are primary functions of DNA
2)What is the basic unit of DNA? 3) What are nucleotides made from? 4) What are the different nucleotides?
Read page 410 - 11, Double the Code. From the reading: 5) Describe Complementary base pairing.

Open the slide, then make a copy and save as your document.
Share the document with Ms. Sherwood at lsherwood@g.ptschools.org

Page 413 - Read Copying DNA. From the reading: 1) Describe how DNA separates 2) in replication, what happens next? 3) How is DNA replication related to Mitosis?

Page 417, R/C 2 d. Venn Diagram comparing Mitosis and Meiosis
Transcription/Translation video transcription/Translation video
Read Making RNA 1) what is RNA made from? How is it different from DNA?
2) What is job of mRNA
3) How many sides of the DNA does it copy? 4) What is translation? 5) what kind of RNA is used in translation.
Use paperclips to model transcription. Either draw a picture or take a picture and print to include in notebook
