What you need to know for Science II

Welcome to Science II!

I love to explore the world through the lens of science. My goal for this year is that all students will find joy in science as well. I believe that students learn best by doing, so attendance is important. We will be engaged in learning activities everyday.

I strive to keep classroom work easy to access for both students and parents. All assignments, homework and personal responsibility opportunities are listed each week under the Daily Work tab on this website. Students will receive a hard copy of this as well. There will be hotlinks to handouts, videos and power points in the daily work document. Check out the Personal Responsibility tab for more information about that.

In 2013, Washington State adopted Next Generation Science Standards. I find that these standards provide a framework for active learning. You will notice that standards being addressed each week at the bottom of the weekly log. For more information about these standards, please look at the NGSS tab.

I am always looking for more effective ways to include technology in instruction. While most daily work will be recorded in the student's science notebook, many assignments will be shared with me using the school Google Docs at my school Google address: lsherwood@g.ptschools.org.

If you have questions, or concerns, please contact me at lsherwood@ptschools.org.
